Sonic Forest Studios is a Dolby Atmos mixing and mastering studio near Victoria, British Columbia, owned and operated by Todd Hooge. This policy explains what personal information this website (sonicforeststudios.com) collects, how it’s used, and the choices you have. It’s written to follow British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and Canada’s federal privacy law (PIPEDA).

What information is collected

If you use the contact form, you provide your name, email address, your message, and any other details you choose to include, such as a phone number or project information. You provide this voluntarily so I can respond to you.

Like most websites, the site also collects some technical information automatically: IP address, browser type, the pages you visit, and how you arrived at the site. This happens through standard hosting server logs and Google Analytics.

How it’s used

Contact form submissions are used to reply to you and to quote or manage your project. Analytics data is used in aggregate to understand which pages visitors find useful and to improve the site. Your information is never sold, rented, or used for third-party advertising.

Cookies and analytics

The site uses Google Analytics, which sets cookies to measure how visitors use the site. This data is collected in a way that does not directly identify you. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or install Google’s Analytics opt-out browser add-on, and the site will still work fine.

Where your information is stored

This website is hosted on servers located in the United States, and Google processes analytics data outside Canada. That means your information may be stored or processed outside of Canada and could be accessible to authorities under the laws of those jurisdictions. By using the site or submitting the contact form, you consent to this.

How long it’s kept

Contact form submissions arrive as email and are kept as long as needed to handle your inquiry and maintain reasonable business records. If you’d like your information deleted, ask, and it will be removed unless there’s a legal or accounting reason to keep it.

Who it’s shared with

Nobody, except the service providers needed to run the site: the hosting company, the email provider, and Google Analytics. Each receives only what’s necessary to do its job. Personal information may also be disclosed if required by law.

Your rights

Under PIPA, you can ask what personal information is held about you, request a correction, or withdraw your consent at any time by contacting me using the details below. If you’re not satisfied with the response, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.

Children

This site is not directed at children, and no information is knowingly collected from anyone under 13.

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
